The government has released the new Québec Policy Respecting Public Transit – Better Choices for Citizens – a policy that is directly in keeping with the implementation of sustainable development through the economic, environmenta l, and social dimensions of access to and use of public transit.
It is aimed at improving the quality of the services that are available to the public. The means that are adopted should lead to a 16% increase in the supply of transit services, which should make it possible to attain the targeted 8% growth in ridership. Users will also benefit from more frequent service, more extensive schedules, and more routes.
This ambitious policy will benefit all Québecers, and will help to improve the quality of life for residents of urban and rural areas while paving the way for future generations.
