One of the important aspects of the Act respecting owners and operators of heavy vehicles is the conduct review of owners and operators by the Société de l'assurance automobile du Québec using the mechanisms described in its conduct review policy.
The Société assesses the conduct of owners and operators using its own observations or those of police departments, based on road checks or company inspections or other critical events.
All events (offences, accidents, being out of service, etc.) for which a heavy vehicle owner or operator is responsible immediately change his assessment. And when an owner or operator of heavy vehicles reaches one of the levels set down in the policy, he is automatically the subject of certain interventions by the Société (warning letters or forwarding of his file to the Commission des transports du Québec).
