Owners and operators who use a heavy vehicle in towns that are isolated or not connected to the road network are exempt from the application of the Act respecting owners and operators of heavy vehicles. Therefore, they do not have to be entered in the register of owners and operators of heavy vehicles kept by the Commission des transports du Québec.
This exemption applies exclusively to the territory of the towns listed below. If, at any time, the vehicle travels outside of these towns (for reasons such as vehicle breakdown or repairs), it becomes subject to the Act, and entry in the register becomes mandatory.
